2014 Recognition Awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the CASBO Recognition Awards. 

Deadline for All Awards is Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.

Connecticut Celebrated School Business Official

This award was created to acknowledge the value and contributions of outstanding school business officials.  Nominees will be evaluated based upon their contributions to their profession, regardless of the size of their districts and their job titles.  This award is meant to honor an individual both for current accomplishments and sustained contributions.  It is not intended to be a capstone to the end of a career.  Longevity will not be a factor in the nomination or selection process.  Nomiantions are accepted through SurveyMonkey.  It is recommended that nominators prepare the nominaiton in Word and cut/paste it into each appropriate form box.

Eligibility:  Full and regular CASBO members (of at least 12 consecutive months prior to nomination) are eligible;  Connecticut certified school business administrators (085 or 092 endorsement); Current officers, members of the selection committee, and previous recipients within 5 years of award are not eligible. 

Nomination:  Nominations may be submitted by full, regular or emeritus CASBO members, or the superintendent or member of the Board of Education of the nominee's district.  Self-nominations  are acceptable.

Rising Star

This award was created to acknowledge the value and contributions of outstanding newer school business officials.  Nominees will be evaluated based upon their contributions to their profession, regardless of the size of their districts and their job titles.  This award is to honor an individual who has served as a certified school business official for 10 years or less, for both current accomplishments and sustained contributions.

Eligibility:  Full and regular CASBO members (of at least 12 consecutive months prior to nomination) are eligible; Connecticut certified school business official (085 or 092 endorsement) for 10 years or less; Current officers, members of the selection committee, and previous recipients within 5 years of award are not eligible.

Nominations:  Nominations may be submitted by full, regular or emeritus CASBO members, or the superintendent or member of the Board of Education of the nominee's district.  Self-nominations are acceptable

Innovative Practices Award

The purpose of the School Business and Operations Innovative Practices Recognition is to identify effective and innovative uses of public resources in support of education, and to disseminate the ideas or practices for the benefit of public schools in Connecticut.

Eligibility:  The district must have a full or regular CASBO membership for at least 12 consecutive months prior to application. The best practice or new idea submitted must have been developed and executed by the applicant.  If the entry is a group submission, only the lead person will receive the award for the group.  Cooperative efforts between districts are eligible.
