Congressional Visit Recap

The AASA/ASBO Legislative Advocacy Conference is held annually in Washington, DC in July. Vincent Masciana, Sharon Bruce, and Dave Lenihan represented CASBO and Fran Rabinowitz and Superintendent Paul Freeman were among the CAPSS representatives. This session will focus on the nationwide education issues, advocacy strategies, and the benefits of meeting with our Congressional delegation.

PA18-183 Explained

Bryan Klimkiewicz, CSDE Special Education Bureau Chief

PA18-183 made changes to BOEs interactions with private providers of special education services, specifically, “Any contract or agreement entered into with a private provider of special education shall include an explanation of how tuition or costs are to be calculated and may include additional detail such as progress reporting timelines and periodic site visits.”  Mr. Klimkiewicz will help us understand how to implement this change.

Schedule, topics, and speakers are subject to change.  Program outcomes:  Attendees will gain a better knowledge of the SDE processes and legislative issues.  This workshop will provide attendees with .5 CEU credits.  To qualify for full CEU credits; you must sign-in by 9:00 a.m. and sign-out no earlier than 3:00 p.m.  To qualify for .3 CEU credits, you must sign-in by 9:00 a.m. and sign-out no earlier than 12:00 p.m.
