As school districts continue to seek options to work collaboratively to ensure the most efficient and effective use of resources, RESCs play an important role in this effort. Mr. Erwin will showcase resources available to school districts and will examine best practices.

Consortium Purchasing Best Practices - RESC Panel Members

CT RESCs are in existence to help our schools do more with less, and cooperative purchasing is at the core of that mission. Consortium purchasing is a great way to stretch those limited resources. This panel will discuss best practices and review consortium opportunities.

Do you know the difference between an RFP and Bid? Which is right for the situation? Why do I need a process at all? Wilma Petro will review which procurement process will produce the best results. Buying different commodities successfully requires the use of different processes. Learn how to use the right process to get the results you seek.

CEN Member Led Services & Consortia Pricing - Ryan Kocsondy, CEN Director

CEN has been working with community members through advisory councils to identify areas of interest for aggregated services and consortia pricing. Our goal is to bring the scale of the CEN network to the table in negotiating services as well as ensure partner and/or consortia agreements will meet the requirements of schools and towns. We will present on findings to date, strategy moving forward, provide examples of existing agreements, and opportunities to partner moving forward.

Exploring Education Funding Methods - Kathy Guay

Most would agree that the way education is funded in Connecticut is not sufficient, nor sustainable. What if we were to start from scratch with a method that ensure that all children’s education needs are met. CAPSS has embarked upon an education funding project to explore new funding methods in a holistic approach. Kathy Guay will provide an overview of the process thus far.

Schedule, topics, and speakers are subject to change.  Program outcomes:  Attendees will gain a better knowledge of procurement and cooperative best practices.  This workshop will provide attendees with .5 CEU credits.  To qualify for full CEU credits; you must sign-in by 9:00 a.m. and sign-out no earlier than 3:00 p.m.  To qualify for .3 CEU credits, you must sign-in by 9:00 a.m. and sign-out no earlier than 12:00 p.m.
